- 3 to 4 lb chuck roast
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- Green onions and sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Coat the Chuck Roast: Place the chuck roast in a slow cooker or roasting pan and pour the marinade over it. Ensure it’s evenly coated.
- Cook the Meat: Cover and cook on low heat in a slow cooker for 6-8 hours or roast in an oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 3-4 hours until tender.
- Rest and Serve: Let the roast rest for about 10 minutes before slicing or shredding. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
