Ingredients
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 2/3 cup pearl sugar
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, yeast, and brown sugar in a stand mixer bowl. Let rest for about 10 minutes until bubbly.
- Mix in flour, egg, salt, and vanilla using a dough hook on low speed until a dough forms.
- Knead in softened butter on medium-high speed for about 5 minutes until soft and stretchy.
- Place dough in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap; allow to rise until doubled (about 60 minutes).
- Incorporate pearl sugar into the risen dough by flattening it out and folding it over as you add the sugar.
- Preheat your waffle maker for about 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into four equal portions and cook each piece in the preheated waffle maker until golden brown (6-7 minutes).
- Serve immediately with toppings of your choice.
