Ingredients
- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with unsalted butter.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper without bringing to a boil.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, followed by half of the cream mixture and half of the cheeses.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Dot the top with unsalted butter and cover with foil.
- Bake for 40 minutes covered, then remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
