Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips and prepare the onion and garlic.
- In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok over medium heat and add onions. Cook until caramelized (8–10 minutes) then set aside.
- In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of oil on high heat and sear the marinated beef until browned but slightly pink (about 3–4 minutes).
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds before returning the onions to the pan. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss to combine.
- Serve hot over rice or noodles.
