- 1 loaf of rustic Italian bread or baguette
- 3 medium-sized ripe tomatoes, diced
- 2–3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the bread into 1/2-inch thick pieces and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While the bread is toasting, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar in a mixing bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Season the tomato mixture with salt and black pepper according to your taste.
- Once the bread is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Top each slice with a generous spoonful of tomato mixture.
- Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
