- 2–3 cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup high-quality cocoa powder
- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, ground cinnamon, chocolate shavings
Instructions
- In a medium-sized heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat 2-3 cups of whole milk and ½ cup heavy cream over medium heat until steaming.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ½ cup cocoa powder and 1-2 tablespoons grated milk chocolate. Mix in about ½ cup of the hot milk mixture until smooth.
- Pour the chocolate mixture back into the saucepan while whisking constantly. Add the entire can of sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract; whisk until combined.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened to your liking.
- Serve in heat-resistant mugs topped with whipped cream, cinnamon, and chocolate shavings as desired.
