  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef and pork mix (or your preference)
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes (preferably San Marzano)
  • ½ cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent.
  3. Add ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in garlic, carrot, and celery; cook for about five minutes until softened.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and red wine; bring to a simmer and cook uncovered for about twenty minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to boil. Cook gnocchi according to package instructions until they float (about two minutes).
  7. Drain gnocchi and gently fold into the sauce; warm together on low heat for another two minutes.
  8. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
