Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg yolk
- 28 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 6 ounces dark chocolate (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
- Sea salt (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Incorporate flour and salt, then mix in the beaten egg yolk. Press into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Bake for about 20 minutes until lightly golden; allow to cool completely.
- In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk and butter over medium heat, stirring until caramelized (about 5-7 minutes). Pour over cooled shortbread.
- Melt dark chocolate with corn syrup; pour over caramel layer and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top and refrigerate for at least two hours before cutting into squares.
