- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee or hot water
- For Frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter, 2/3 cup Nutella, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 3 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In one bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix egg, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and brewed coffee until combined.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients while mixing until smooth.
- Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter and bake for approximately 18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cooling before frosting with the prepared Nutella buttercream.
