- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with milk and let it soak.
- Sauté diced onions in butter until fragrant; add minced garlic and cook briefly.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, sautéed onions and garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and salt. Mix gently.
- Shape into a loaf on the baking sheet and score the top.
- Bake for 40 minutes; then add sauce mixture on top and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until cooked through.
