- 8 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add water and mix well; transfer to a greased baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
- Spread the topping evenly over the apple mixture and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
