Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons whole milk
- 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter; add water and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together sour cream and eggs.
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix in the egg mixture followed by the cooled chocolate mixture until blended.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the frosting: Boil milk, cocoa powder, and butter in a saucepan; remove from heat and stir in confectioners sugar and vanilla. Fold in pecans.
- Spread frosting over warm cake.
