  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 6 tablespoons whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter; add water and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together sour cream and eggs.
  4. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix in the egg mixture followed by the cooled chocolate mixture until blended.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For the frosting: Boil milk, cocoa powder, and butter in a saucepan; remove from heat and stir in confectioners sugar and vanilla. Fold in pecans.
  7. Spread frosting over warm cake.
