  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 4 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
  • Maple syrup and whipped cream for serving
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar (add 1/2 cup if you don't want to serve with any syrup)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp sugar to fry
  • 2 tbsp butter to fry

Instructions

  1. Prepare the berry compote by combining chopped berries, lemon juice, and sugar in a nonstick saucepan. Cook over low heat until thickened.
  2. For the cheesecake filling, beat cream cheese until creamy, then mix in powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a bowl. Pour into a deep plate.
  4. Cut pockets into each bread slice and fill generously with cheesecake filling using the piping bag.
  5. Dip each filled slice into the egg mixture on both sides.
  6. Fry in butter over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.
  7. Serve hot topped with berry compote, maple syrup, and whipped cream.
