Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined. Press into the bottom of the prepared dish.
- Spread barbecue sauce over the meat mixture and bake for 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain well.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour; add milk gradually until thickened. Stir in cheese until melted.
- Fold cooked macaroni into cheese sauce and spread over the meatloaf layer.
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
