  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare chicken by trimming fat and optionally butterflying thick breasts.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoning salt, black pepper, and brown sugar.
  3. Rub the spice mixture onto all sides of each chicken piece evenly.
  4. Marinate in the fridge for up to an hour or grill immediately.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  6. Grill chicken for 7-8 minutes on one side before flipping and cooking for another 7-8 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F).
  7. Brush with barbecue sauce before removing from heat.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
