  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole-rolled old fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 35 caramel squares
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch pan with aluminum foil, spraying it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter, then mix in brown sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add flour, oats, baking soda, and salt; stir until combined.
  3. Press half the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, melt caramel squares with heavy cream in the microwave until smooth.
  5. Remove the base from the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, pour warm caramel over it, and crumble remaining base mixture on top.
  6. Bake again for 15–18 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
  7. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
