  • 2/3 cup (146 grams) neutral oil (such as vegetable or avocado oil)
  • 1/4 cup (60 grams) whole milk (at room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (128 grams) semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare an 8-inch square metal pan with parchment paper and nonstick spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine streusel ingredients: butter, brown sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and chopped nuts until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together dry cake ingredients: flour, sugars, baking powder, baking soda, salt. In a separate bowl, blend wet ingredients: sour cream, oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry until just combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the pan followed by half the streusel. Add remaining batter and top with remaining streusel.
  6. Bake for about 48 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
