  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract; mix well.
  4. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Press dough into a greased and lined 9-inch cake pan evenly.
  6. Bake for 23–28 minutes until edges are golden and center is set.
  7. Cool on a wire rack.
  8. In another large mixing bowl, beat softened butter until smooth.
  9. Gradually add sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time while beating on low until incorporated.
  10. Mix in cream, vanilla extract, and salt until fluffy; spread over cooled cake.
