Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup baking cocoa (sifted)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup baking cocoa (sifted)
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture while alternating with buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
